POSITION DETAILS

Addictions Recovery Center, Inc (ARC) in Medford, Oregon is a behavioral health agency providing a trauma-informed, comprehensive continuum of substance use and co-occurring mental health disorder treatment services in Southern Oregon. We are seeking a full-time, skilled, and compassionate Food Services Cook to join our team and support our mission by fostering healing and recovery through nutritious and comforting meals.

ARC’s Food Service Cooks play a crucial role in the overall well-being of our clients by preparing meals that promote health, healing, and stability. They work closely with our food services team to create balanced menus and ensure that dietary needs and restrictions are met with sensitivity and understanding. ARC’s Food Service Cooks also support the treatment process by aiding in the repair of physical damage caused by substance use, which can positively impact the likelihood of one’s long-term recovery.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparing and cooking meals in accordance with established menus and dietary guidelines, ensuring that all meals are nutritious, flavorful, and visually appealing
  • Accommodating special dietary needs and restrictions, including food allergies, intolerances, and preferences, with empathy and attention to detail
  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, including proper storage of food items, utensils, and equipment, in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Collaborating with our food services team to develop and modify menus based on resident feedback, seasonal availability, and nutritional best practices
  • Supporting a positive and supportive dining atmosphere by interacting with residents in a respectful and compassionate manner
  • Adhering to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items

This position is generally scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & SKILLS

Education, Credentials and Skills should include:

  • A current Food Handlers card or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Proven experience as a cook in a similar setting, with a strong understanding of dietary requirements and restrictions
  • Knowledge of nutrition principles and their application to meal planning and preparation
  • Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals in recovery
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a focus on quality and safety
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation and benefits include:

  • Most ARC employees are scheduled four-days a week to support their ability to maintain a healthy work and life balance; medical and sobering positions are scheduled to work three days a week
  • Starting wage for a Food Services Cook ranging from $21.50 – $24.73 hourly, depending on credentials, skills, and experience
  • Three (3) to six (6) weeks of Vacation accrued per year, based upon years of service
  • Sick time is accrued for all employees based on regularly scheduled hours
  • Ten (10) Paid Holidays each year: New Year’s, MLK Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
